Pottery Barn Adds To Accessible Furniture Line
A major player in home furnishings is expanding its collection of products designed to better accommodate people with disabilities.
Pottery Barn debuted dozens of new pieces this month that include accessibility features like integrated armrests, larger pulls, grab rails and higher ground clearance to account for wheelchair users.
The offering is a collaboration with Michael Graves Design, a brand known for accessible design. The new items supplement Pottery Barn’s existing Accessible Home collection, which was introduced in 2022 and includes hundreds of furniture and home goods pieces designed with accessibility in mind.

The Michael Graves Design for Pottery Barn collection is focused on the bedroom and features 29 pieces ranging from beds and nightstands to dressers and chairs. Some items are modifications of Pottery Barn best sellers while others are unique. Designs are based on research conducted with adults aging in place and people with disabilities, officials with Michael Graves Design said.
“Bringing together Pottery Barn’s design leadership for beautiful, quality home furnishings, with Michael Graves Design’s award-winning accessible design knowledge has enabled us to create a collection that harmoniously blends aesthetic appeal and functionality,” said Monica Bhargava, president of Pottery Barn. “Collaborating with Michael Graves Design has deepened our commitment to accessible designs with the goal of enhancing the lives of consumers living with disabilities, injuries or aging in place at home without sacrificing quality or style.”
The Michael Graves Design for Pottery Barn collection is available on the Pottery Barn website and in select stores.
