Girl With Down Syndrome Aims For Inclusion In ‘Fancy Nancy’
A California girl with Down syndrome is in the running to be featured in the popular children’s book series, “Fancy Nancy.”
Audrey Presby, 6, is one of 615 children vying to be part of a future book in the Fancy Nancy Fantastic Photo Contest. The winner of the contest will be featured in an upcoming Fancy Nancy book, which tells the story of young girl with a confident personality who likes to dress lavishly.
The public has until Jan. 31 to vote for their favorite contestant. Then, the top 20 vote-getters will be reviewed by a panel of judges from book publisher HarperCollins who will select the final winner.

Currently, Presby is number 38.
Presby, who loves the book series and likes to dress up like Fancy Nancy, has Down syndrome and Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis.
“Most books featuring children with special needs are found in the special needs section of libraries and bookstores,” Presby’s mom, Nicki, told O.C. Now. “But if Audrey were to be chosen and included in an illustration in the next Fancy Nancy story the book would be center stage, front of the store, out there for everyone to read and see. How amazing would that be?” To read more click here.
