Man With Down Syndrome Revels In Oscar Glory
When Jennifer Lawrence snagged the Academy Award for best actress Sunday night, it was a win for a young man with Down syndrome too.
Andy Strunk, 23, says he’s Lawrence’s biggest fan. The two were neighbors growing up and attended Kammerer Middle School in Louisville, Ky. together and have kept in touch ever since.
Strunk prepared for weeks to watch the telecast at his Louisville home. He dressed up in a tuxedo and baked a special cake in honor of the “Silver Linings Playbook” star. On hand was a slew of autographed memorabilia Strunk has accrued from Lawrence over the years — including a signed poster delivered over the weekend — adorned with messages like “Don’t Forget About Me” and “With All My Love.”
