Insurer Kaiser Sued For Declining Therapy For Kids With Autism
A class action suit filed Wednesday in California accuses a major health insurer of declining to cover autism therapy in order to save money.
The suit says that Kaiser Permanente’s Kaiser Foundation Health Plan pays for speech, occupational and physical therapy, but not when the individual is diagnosed with autism. The plaintiffs allege that Kaiser uses, “unfair tactics that include sham excuses, deliberate delay and other attempts to avoid its lawful obligations,” reports The San Francisco Chronicle. To read more click here.
