A first-of-its-kind kids’ show with a star and core cast who are all on the autism spectrum is making its television debut.

The show, “Pablo,” centers on a 5-year-old boy with autism who uses his creativity and imagination to create an “Art World” with animal characters who help him cope with social situations and handle confusion and anxiety.

Airing on the cable network Universal Kids, the show uses a mix of live action and 2D animation. Each episode is based on the real-world experience of someone with autism.

The 52-episode series originated out of Ireland and first aired on a BBC network late last year. The show proved so popular that it’s now entering the American and Canadian markets and is slated to air in Latin America, Australia, the Middle East, China and Africa, according to BBC.

“Pablo’s uniquely authentic credentials and highly original premise provide fresh insight into what everyday life is like for children on the autism spectrum, with the aim of facilitating better understanding of their experience,” Universal Kids said in announcing the addition to their lineup.

“Pablo” began Monday on Universal Kids and will air each weekday at 8:30 a.m. ET.
